The great Abbey Lincoln died today. Very sad for me, this was a unique singer and I was fortunate enough to hear her at a huge marathon concert at Columbia Quadrangle in Aug., 2001, almost exactly 9 years ago to the day. The most unforgettable song was 'The Music is the Magic of Secret World', which you can get a snippet of off the sidebar of this one, but it's not embeddable. I memorized the whole song just by hearing her sing it once, and I've never forgotten it nor ever heard it again. Also good youTubes of Abbey are ''should've Been', she sang those that day too. I hate to see her go. NOBODY sounded like her, not even any of the old greats from the past, she was just unique.
